Tips for Self- Care

Image
Before I share, I just need to clarify, I know a little about some things but I'm an expert on absolutely nothing. There. I'm glad I got that off my chest! My heart in writing this post is really that it would act as somewhat of a journal for me. I know self care is important but I fail at it miserably. This is me gathering my thoughts as I attempt to get back into the swing of things! 1. Sleep  Starting off with a challenging one. As a mom of two young children and a wifey this one is so hard for me, and I think it's hard for a lot of mommas. We can often times let our children's sleep habits dictate our own. My challenge is to put more healthy boundaries on bed time. Example- my boys bed time is 8:00 and mine is 10. If going to sleep at a reasonable hr is a challenge for your mind and body try to limit your daily caffeine (especially in the afternoon), limit screen time,  look into magnesium supplements. 2. Eat 3 healthy meals a day. I tend to eat the left ...

5 Ways to Create a Kid-Friendly Home

Image
Hey Friends, I recently moved from California to Texas from a cozy two bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom prairie style home. This sweet 100 year old home I'm currently living in is a dream come true. I've always had a love for historic architecture. Creaky hard wood floors and original shiplap make my heart soar! It has been so fun putting my own touch all over this sweet home. Part of that has been making it kid- friendly for my 3 and 5 year old. Here are some practical and easy ways I've done that. 1. Don't spend a lot of money on furniture. I'm not saying buy junk but keep in mind that it is highly likely that it will be jumped on, stained, and possibly the most important part of your children's fort making creations. This chair was 40 dollars on Offer- Up. My couch? A whopping 50 dollars thrifted. Best part of my couch is that the cover is machine washable.  Our beloved ottoman was another Offer-Up find. I got it a few years ago for 40 dollars...

Welcome

Hi There, Welcome to my blog! My name is Kathleen and I'm a wife, momma and Jesus follower. I have always had a passion to make people feel welcome, accepted and safe. I think a large part of that passion comes out in the way I decorate my home. My style is a little bit of everything- boho, modern century, shabby, vintage, farmhouse, with touches of hygge in every room. Basically, I decorate with what I love and I don't follow any rules. The best part is, I've done it all on a small budget which makes me very proud and my wallet happy.  My family and I just moved to Northern Texas a few weeks ago which I still can't believe. I'm a California girl through and through but when God calls you somewhere you listen.  More of that next time!  Thanks for being here.
